The Johnson County Community Farmers’ Market meets down on the Courthouse Square in Clarksville each Saturday from 8 AM – 12 PM and on Wednesdays from 5 – 7 PM. They have over 45 vendors who have a variety of local crafts, wearables, soaps, veggies, fruit, honey, USDA meat, bread, pastries, jewelry, and more. All items are produced by local community members and are as fresh as possible, because everything is grown or created locally! They will be open through the end of October. Join Lake Dardanelle State Park as they host National Public Lands Day. This event brings together thousands of volunteers to improve and restore the lands and facilities that Americans use for recreation, education and enjoyment. You can also join in volunteering for the annual Great Arkansas Clean-up which will be held at this event. At 11 a.m. there will be a ceremony for all those who volunteered and a free lunch along with several planned activities for the whole family. WHAT: Swim for Hope Invitational

The Russellville Kiwanis Club is proud to announce the "Swim For Hope Invitational", a new and one of a kind swim meet to be held at the Russellville Aquatic Center. Set to take place Saturday, September 29 at 9 a.m., the meet will serve as a pre-season opener for swim teams and individual swimmers from all over the state of Arkansas. The multi-event meet is open to individuals of all ages and will feature awards and recognition for those competing. Concessions and meet souvenirs will also be available throughout the day. All of the funds raised from the invitational will be given to The Call, an organization that trains families to become foster families and to the Beatrice Johnson Kiwanis Youth Kamp, a camp created to provide positive outdoor & camping experiences to at risk youth in our area. Keith Frazier and the Russellville Regional Airport are hosting an epic benefit event – Rockin’ the Runway – on Saturday, September 29th! There will be 6 bands performing and all sorts of fun for the entire family, with 100% of proceeds benefitting River Valley Food 4 Kids (RVF4K). RVF4K is a non-profit organization that provides food to local River Valley children via their School Backpack Program, Summer Food 4 Kids, Holiday Food 4 Kids and more! WHAT: River Valley Log a Load for Kids Fish Fry Fundraiser

The River Valley Log A Load for Kids chapter will conduct the 2018 Fish Fry Fundraiser for Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) in Russellville again this year. Committee Chairman Allen Farley said the fundraiser will include a fish dinner, guest speakers, live and silent auctions and drawings. An Angel One helicopter will even fly in during the event to showcase what some of the proceeds from Log a Load actually benefit. The 2018 Fish Fry Fundraiser will be conducted from 4-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the LV Williamson Boys and Girls Club, located at 600 E. 16th St. in Russellville. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. The Log A Load program started in 1988 when two loggers from South Carolina were discussing ways in which they could make a positive contribution to their community. The idea has now spread to 28 states, and began in 1993 in Arkansas. Since the program came to Arkansas, loggers and members of the forestry community have demonstrated their commitment to Arkansas' children by raising more than $9 million for ACH at events throughout the state. The program is sponsored by the Arkansas Forestry Association in cooperation with the Arkansas Timber Producers Association. Arkansas Log A Load For Kids has funded one $4 million endowment in support of the Emergency Department and Trauma Unit at ACH, two $1.5 million endowments -- one in pediatric cardiovascular surgery and another in support of the Angel One helicopter transport program -- and one $1 million endowment in support of the hospital's imaging and radiation program. CASA of the 5th Judicial District and Friends of CASA are hosting the 2nd Annual Light the Night 5K Glow Run on Saturday, September 29th at Clarksville’s Cline Park. There will be a Kids 1K at 6:30 PM and the glow competition wraps up the event around 8:30. Strollers are welcome and children under 13 can participate in the 5K if they have parental supervision. All proceeds will benefit CASA of the 5th Judicial District in their mission to provide a trained court advocate for every child who enters foster care in Johnson, Pope, or Franklin county. PCLS offers a FREE computer class on the first Thursday of each month. The next class will be on Thursday, October 4th from 11a.m.-12 p.m. at the Pope County Library. WHAT: Russellville High School Class of 1968 50th Reunion

The Russellville High School Class of 1968 is having its 50th reunion on Friday, October 5th during the homecoming parade and football game. On Saturday the 6th, Russellville alumni of '68 are invited to a free family picnic at Washburn Park from 11 AM – 2 PM, where food trucks will be available for food purchases. An alumni banquet will be held that same evening from 6-10 PM at the Holiday Inn Express of Russellville. Cost is $15 per person or $25 per couple and catered heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served. Holiday Inn will allow attendees to bring their own beer and wine, just no hard liquor. 5K RUN (10/6/18)
The First Annual Break Away 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will take place Saturday (10/6/18) at the Conway County Courthouse in Morrilton. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the race will start at 9:30. Prizes will be awarded and t-shirts are guaranteed to all participants registered by September 24th. WORKFORCE STRONG (10/6/18)
As part of National Manufacturing Day, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Department of Workforce Education will host a Workforce Strong career day on Saturday (10/6/18) from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the UACCM Workforce Training Center. The free event will provide a closer look at career options available in the area and is designed for high school students interested in pursuing a technical certificate at UACCM or adults looking to enter the workforce. OKTOBERFEST (10/6/18)
Sacred Heart Catholic School in Morrilton will host its annual Oktoberfest on Saturday (10/6/18) in the school gymnasium. An all-you-can-eat turkey and dressing dinner will be served from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with carryouts available from 4:00-5:30 by calling 354-8113. Dinner prices are $13 for adults, $6 for children age 4-12 and free for kids 3 and under. There will also be games for all ages and a silent auction until 8:30 p.m. and a raffle for a Kawasaki Mule. New this year is a pumpkin patch craft station for kids and a beer garden for adults.

The annual Foodstock event to benefit River Valley Food 4 Kids will be held on Saturday, October 13th at Downtown Russellville’s Train Depot. Foodstock will include live entertainment, an onsite crawfish and shrimp boil, interactive games, vendors, food trucks, Kona Ice, raffles, and much more! The mission of River Valley Food 4 Kids is to help alleviate hunger among children in the Arkansas River Valley by providing food when other sources of nutrition are not readily available and to provide education on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. During Foodstock, all proceeds raised will go toward the Backpack Program, provided local students with food over the weekend, which serves over 1,000 local children weekly. Applications for the Morrilton Adelaide Club's 28th Annual Angel Tree are available at the Conway County Department of Human Services thru October 15th. The club is accepting applications from legal guardians and custodial parents of children who live in Conway County and were born between September 1, 2004 and September 1, 2018. Completed applications can be left at the DHS office on Bruce Street in Morrilton or mailed to The Adelaide Club Angel Tree Project, P.O. Box 174, Morrilton, AR 72110.

WHAT: Pirate Dash 5K

Join the Dover Pirates Band as they celebrate the Pirate Dash 5K! The Dover band members, alongside the Band Boosters, are hosting this race to raise funds for upcoming out-of-state trips for the Dover High School Band and instrument needs for all levels of the Dover band. They are working to raise the $15,000 necessary to help every Dover band member for all trip necessities.
