The Adult Education Center at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton offers free classes to prepare adults in Conway and Perry Counties to earn a GED. ESL classes are also offered free of charge for anyone at least 18 years of age. For more information, call 215-4904.

Pope County Better Together 4-H Club is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser through October 11th to raise funds for club activities involving community service projects. The Better Together 4-H Club will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at the Pope County Extension Services’ office. 

The River Valley Arts Center is announcing its 20th Annual Holiday Jubilee Tuesday November 14th at 6:00 pm at the Holiday Inn Express 300 E. Harrell Drive in Russellville. There will be hors d’oeuvres and drinks, bidding on fabulous items in a live and silent auction, plus entertainment by Rufus Elam and more! Registration for the Morrilton Parks and Recreation Department's instructional basketball league for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students is open through Wednesday (11/15/17). Registration is $50 for one child, $90 for two children, or $120 for three children in the same family. Registration can be completed at the Community Center in Morrilton. The Safe Place of Morrilton will hold its Fourth Annual Tree-mendous fundraising event on Saturday (11/18/17) from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the old Allison Ford building in Morrilton. There will be a silent auction for Christmas decorations, including decorated trees, wreaths and centerpieces. There will also be refreshments, and Santa will have cookies for the kids. St. Elizabeth Church, located at the foot of Petit Jean Mountain, will host a fall fiesta in the parish hall on Saturday (11/18/17). A dinner featuring all-you-can-eat authentic fajitas, chips, salsa and cheese dip will be served from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for age 12 and over, $10 for age 6-12 and free for ages five and under. DJ music will be played from 8:00-10:00 p.m. and drink bracelets will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the Sacred Heart capital campaign. The CADDIS Fly Fishing Club, the Russellville Recreation and Parks Department, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) are again partnering to bring season trout fishing to Russellville! Don’t miss Trout Day 2017 on Saturday, December 2nd from 9 AM to 12-noon! The AGFC will stock Pleasant View Park’s Pond with 1,200 Rainbow Trout for a great opportunity for everyone to catch a limit of trout in Russellville!
